GUPPIES THROW THE HOOK TO WIN FIRST OF TWO as they continue perfect season, game final 7-5 The fans got what they paid for and then some Thursday night as the Guppies started their double header battling the Scratches for C division supremacy. Game play was fast and furious for the opening shifts and throughout the first half, Crayton with an earth shattering crack to the back of the net put the Gupps on the board early, and started a Guppy run to four. Crayton would go on to back that goal up with another, Good passing and setup work from Fong and Halle made for some quick points to add to the guppy edge. Scratches rallied back with some quick passing to land one in the net, which started their mad rally to five. As the Scratches were thumbing through the guppy cookbook looking for recipes, Cappy started earning his stripes. Trailing by one the guppies change lines and go on the offense with under four minutes remaining in the second half. With Murph, Kelly, and Zito on the move and Halle covering the kitchen, things were looking up for our would-be hero's. With text book in hand, and a little razzle-dazzle Kelly ties it with a pass from Murph to setup the game finish with only a few minutes on the clock. The Murph/Kelly line kept up the pressure, setting up a Murphy hattrick and game winner at the two minute warning. Scratches went home hungry, no Guppy dinner tonight boys Hats off to Joe Linsky's no-nonsense approach to goal keeping, at a press conference this week in the Killingworth Town Rotory Club, the Killingworth Senior Gazette the local news paper run by and created for senior citizens, interviewed Linsky at length about his astonishing record and almost uncanny ability to "grease the guppy winning machine" so to speak. They asked Joe repeatedly what his secret to winning was, what is the one thing that makes it work for him he simply replied "umm, I just try to keep it out of the net"
Sorry side notes are MIA this week due to anebriation GAME TWO - A TIME TO SPAWN Guppys get out in 22 minutes, trashing Aloi 11-1 With an average of one Guppy goal every 2 minutes the writing was on the wall six minutes in to this one folks. Our beloved Guppies opened up a giant can of womp-ass on team Aloi and let the puck do all the talkin, seeing net on nearly every Guppy attempt. Big plays in goal for Marc Crayton, popping up time after time to save nearly ALL six shots on net. Mark never looked better due largely to the crushing defensive plays by the four horsemen "Gessnar, Caroll, Halle, and Merk". Aloi was forced to play 90% of the first half in their own zone as Kelly and Murphy beat the war drum louder and louder Power shots from Zito and Murphy who both had two, adding to the Aloi malaise. Carroll found net with a rocket, as did Art Rello flying in from Jamaica to make the doubleheader rasta style, both Carroll and Fong went to grab an assist each. As with game one tonight the spotlight was on the Kelly/Murphy connection, as it appeared to be supercharged and on steroids, nailing a high percentages of passes to yield two goals for Murphy and six for Kelly's scorecard, beating the old Guppy record by two. Despite bogus crosschecking penalties and a ridicules timeout with 38 seconds left in the first half team Aloi was struggling to keep the game going to regulation time About 98 seconds into the second half the Guppies finish the job and send Aloi home early... finishing by ten points 11-1 to end the game 21 minutes and 38 seconds into regulation play. Whats Guppies idea of a quickie you ask? ... About 22 minutes.... "Your money is on the dresser bitch, im done wich you!" Guppies earn a buy next week and will be recovering in style as they swim to Toronto, that's Canada, to take on whatever they can afford... Catch more Guppy action on September 26th as the Guppies take on the 5-Min Majors, @ 7:30PM.
