MULCAHY
AND ZITO LEAD GUPPIES TO VICTORY
11/15/02- Friday night the Killingworth Guppies swam circles around
the Wrecking Crew, beating them 9-1. It was the forth straight victory
for the Guppies since they moved up to the Zrink B League. Swimming
to the front of the school was the line combination of Mulcahy and Zito.
Brian Mulcahy(3-3-6) started the scoring early as he fired a shot into
the Wrecking Crew's net off of a great play from Jason Zito(3-4-7) and
Robert Murphy(1-3-4). It would be the start to a very busy night for
Brian and his line mate Jason Zito. "Zito and Fong (Mulcahy) were
on fire tonight, they were unstoppable" stated Guppies net minder
Joe Linskey. He also added "Kelly sucks!!!". Zito and Mulcahy
exchange goals throughout the period when Guppies Assistant Captain
John Carroll(1-0-1) joined the party, scoring his first of the season
with a rocket from the point. Later in the second half Marc Crayton(1-1-2)
would his second goal of the season off of a nice pass from Zito. Murphy
would round out the guppies scoring when he finished off a pass from
Mulcahy and Zito. For the second game in a row the Guppies defense had
a quiet night but were as effective as always. Joe Linskey stop 12 of
the Wrecking Crew's 13 shots dropping his GAA (goals against average)
to an impressive 2.75. The Guppies face off next Friday against the
Road Dogs who lost this week to the Quicksilver. The Guppies and the
Road Dogs were the only undeafeated teams left heading into this weekend
but with the Dogs loss, the Gups stand alone. Look for a Strong and
Fired up Road Dogs team trying to end the Guppies current Winning streak
(16-0-0) this Friday, November 22, 2002. Game time is 8pm, plenty of
good seats still available.
