Today's Special: Grilled Guppie, Fire Ants Win 10-5!

Glastonbury, CT August 8, 2006. ZRink - Killingworth Guppies Summer 2006 season.

8/8/2006- The Guppie's Tuesday night started out real well, even with both Rob Murphy and Tim Poulin not in the line up at game time, Murphy would arrive later in the game. Jason Zito (3-0-3) scored the first two goals of the game as the Fish took the early lead. However, that was the end of the good times for our heroes! The Fire Ants turned up the heat and the Guppies couldn't keep up, as the Ants scored the next three goals to take the 3-2 lead. Keith Millen (1-1-2) tied the game at three before the Ants regained the lead only .25 seconds later.  Trying to keep with the Ants and swimming against the current the Fish tied the score again on Zito's third goal of the game. Again the Ants were quick to answer scoring the next two goals to grab a 6-4 lead at the half.

In the second the Ants and Guppies struggled to score the all important next goal. Unfortunately, the Ants won that battle and opened a commanding 7-4 lead. Mike Halle (1-0-1) scored a great goal late in the Second half to give the fans in Guppies Nation some hope for a comeback. However, the Fire Ants would score twice .18 seconds to harpoon the Guppies comeback bid. The Guppies let up another goal less than a minute later .....Started the Fire boys .......These Guppies are ready for the grill!! 

The Guppies face off next week against the Ball Smashers game time 8:00pm. Check your local listings for TV Coverage.

SIDE NOTES:

- Tim Poulin was a healthy scratch for the second week in a row. Poulin seems to be making a late season push for "Brian Blair Award". Stay tuned!

- Beer Pong Gods?? No, Just Beer Pong Champions. The Guppies own Dan Pequita and Rob Murphy won the 1st annual "Millen Summer Shootout" beer pong tournament this past Saturday night. The boys beat out 13 other teams to take home the Millen Cup.
