Guppies Slam Dunk Beaver Slam 7-2!

Glastonbury, CT July 7, 2010. ZRink - Killingworth Guppies Summer 2010 season.

07/07/10- The Guppies entered their game Wednesday night against Beaver Slam with a chance to give Guppies Nation something to think about besides LeBron and 'The Decision,' or where Kovalchuk will or won't play and that was a 3 game winning streak.  It has been a long time since Guppies Nation has seen such a streak, in fact some of the Guppies youngest fans have never seen such a winning streak from the Guppies.

The Guppies did not disappoint the Nation.  The Guppies got on the board early as Brian Mulcahy (1 -2-3) found Marc Crayton (1-1-2) in front of the Beaver Slam net to put the Guppies up early.  The Guppies would get on the board again as Jon Stevenson (1-0-1) would take a pass from Mulcahy and Crayton to give the Guppies a two goal lead.  Rob Murphy (1-2-3) would help increase the Guppies lead scoring an unassisted goal to make it 3 - 0.  The Guppies then turned the offense over to Keith "Millen Time" Millen (3-0-3) as he would score the next three Guppies goals, 1 unassisted and 2 from Murphy and Jason Zito (0-2-2).  At one point it appeared that Millen had gotten confused because he was actually seen in the Guppies defensive zone and the bench was wondering if he forgot that the team had switched ends, but Millen was just playing good two-way hockey.

Beaver Slam would finally solve the mystery of how to score against Joe Linskey late in the 2nd half to make the score 6 - 1.  Some of the Beaver Slam players thought it would be easier to score on Linskey based on the Shoot on Joe game on the Guppies website, but Linskey wasn't having it.  Linskey was overheard saying "the game isn't that hard when you don't have Brian Kelly on defense making tape to tape passes to the other team." Linskey finished the game with 22 saves while allowing only 2 goals against.  The Guppies would add one more goal as Mulcahy danced his way through the Beaver Slam defense, deked the goalie and probably out deked himself before he put it pass the Beaver Slam goalie.

The Guppies are in action again next Wednesday at 9PM against the Dead Goalies.
