Official Game Summary |
Glastonbury, CT June 19, 2008. ZRink - Killingworth Guppies Summer 2008 season.
06/19/2008- It's been a long time, over a month, since "America's Favorite NonProfessional Franchise" took to the dek. Their last game was played way back on May 13th! However the Guppies were back on a new night, in a new league, with almost the same roster, and producing the results many of us have grown accustom to over the past 13 years .....A WIN! Things didn't start out easy for the Gupps as Blue Foot came out and scored the first goal of the game. The Fish managed to tie it at one but, the Feet would score again to take the 2-1 lead. Jason Zito (2-2-4) would tie the game at 2, when a buried a great pass from Dan Pequita (3-3-6). The Gupps seemed to take control from there! Keith Millen (4-1-5), who was playing in his first game since having his appendix removed back in May, Score to give the Guppies their first lead of the game. Pequita would add one late in the Half as the Fish swam out to the 4-2 lead.
In the Second, The Guppies took control of the game. Not because of their superior physical fitness but, because of their superior physical presents. The Guppies had an nine man roster while Blue Foot only had six players. It was a huge advantage for the fish and they made the most of their opportunity. Pequita would score twice and Keith Millen scored to give the Fish a commanding 7-2 lead. That's all before Zito fired a "Laser" into Blue Foot's net to make it an 8-2 lead. To their credit Blue Foot never stopped skating and had several scoring opportunities. However, Guppies Netminder, Brian Miltz, made some brilliant saves to keep BF at bay. Brian Kelly (2-1-3) added two late goals before Millen scored his 4th and put a stamp on this game. Blue Foot managed to score a late Power Play goal, after a series of Time Outs, but the game was already decided. The Gupps seemed to be happy to be back "It was good to get out there and start playing" stated Guppies assistant Rob Murphy "I'm not going to lie, I'm a little tight right now. I might need to stretch more often"
Next week game has yet to be posted. Please check back later this week to see what time the Guppies take the dek and who they will face.
SIDE NOTES:
- Joe Linskey & Tim Poulin were healthy scratches Thursday night.
- The Guppies signed Jon Stevenson to a contract for the Summer 2008 season. Stevenson has played for the Guppies in the past scoring 8 goals, 18 points in 8 games. The Guppies have also signed Brian Mulcahy and Mike Halle to reserved roster position for the Summer 08 season.
- Keeping the Stats: I guess it's a hard thing to do because it seems several Guppie players are concerned about not getting credit for goals they've scored or might have assisted on. Maybe the Gupps should hire their on statistician?
