Guppies Topple King Built Construction 9-3!

Glastonbury, CT June 23, 2005. ZRink - Killingworth Guppies Spring 2005 season.

 

June 23, 2005 - The Guppies toppled the KBC for a final score of 9-3 in Thursday nights barn burner. Note: The fish have won their first 2 puck games this season and this reporter sees a trend developing! Guppies got on the board first when Murphy connected with Zito just over 4 minutes into play. Seconds later the two connected again to make it 2-0 just under 5 minutes in. After the first few goals were scored, Dan Pequita seemed to com alive almost as if he had been avoiding the first goal (ahem) and roofed a nice pass from Marc “Styles” Crayton, his first of 2 killer assists on the evening. The KBC would strike back to get one past Linskey before Murphy would net his second of 2 goals in the period, and Pequita would put another on the board making it 6-1 going into the half.

The Second half started with KBC was throwing everything they could find, borrow, or steal at Linskey, the Guppy netminder was solid with several great saves to start the second half. Tim Poulin would begin the scoring after being hit with a lazer guided pass from Styles Crayton. KBC fired one past Joe to make it 7-2 before Pequita went on his stat seeking mission. Dan found his groove tonight “the one and a half minutes shift seemed to work for him” noted the bench as Dan would find the back of the net 2 more times to give him 4 goals no assists on the evening.

Fans in Killingworth were thrilled to see the return of Brian “Fong” Mulcahy who made his Guppy puck debut Thursday night rounding out the Fishes offensive assault. Although the shot count was controversial at best, KBC and the Guppies were dead even with 31 shots on net for each team on the evening.

- John Stevenson and Brian Kelly were healthy scratches Thursday night.

- Joe Linskey stopped 28 of 31 recorded shots against him
