September 1 , 2005- Thursday night the Guppies opened up their Summer 2005 Playoffs against The Monsters. The two teams met only one week earlier and that game ended early after a fight broke out between the players. There was no repeat of that scene as both teams looked to advance into the Semi-Finals. Tim Poulin (4-0-4) would get the Guppies started as he scored twice in a 11 seconds to give the Guppies the early lead. Monster would make it 2-1 when Scott Brown fired a shot that was tipped off of  Halle's stick and then beat Linskey five hole. However the  Guppies would regain the two goal lead at the 12:55 mark as Rob Murphy (3-4-7) scored his first of the night. Despite the Guppies controlling the play early,  The Monsters managed to keep themselves in the game as Brown scored his second of the night to cut the Guppies lead to one. Frustration on the Guppies bench grew as they were grossly out shooting the Monsters but only had the one goal lead to show for it. Late in the First Dave Armenia (1-1-2) would score to give the Guppies some breathing room. Just over a minute later Dan Pequita (2-2-4) scored when his shot deflected off a Monster player and into the net "Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good" stated Pequita. Poulin would score just before the half to give the Guppies a commanding 6-2 lead at the break.

Early in the Second Brian Kelly (1-3-4) found himself on a breakaway which he buried for the 7-2 lead. One minute later at the 16:35mark Pequita scored for his second of the night. The blood was in the water and the Fish started to swarm as Kelly found Murphy for his second tally of the night. Mike Halle (1-1-2) got in the act as Marc Crayton (0-1-1) won a face off (Yeah, you heard me right......Marc won a face off) back to Halle who fired a low hard shot into the Monsters net. Murphy would get the Hat trick at the 8:09 mark at which point the Monsters called a time out. Down 11-2 with just over 8 minutes remaining, it reminded many Guppies of what happened last week when these two teams met. Brian Kelly seemed concerned "We figured the game was going to get chippy from that point forward".  The game did turn rough as Armenia received an elbow as he set Tim Poulin for the game winner. "Dave got me the puck down low and I really didn't want to see the BS from last week start up again. So, I figured I'll score this goal and we can get out of here"

The Guppies will face off against the Dead Goalies in the Puck C Semi-finals at 10pm on Tuesday 9/6. Tickets for the game go on sale at noon on Friday 9/2.
