Official Game Summary

Guppies House; House Brothers 7-5!

Glastonbury, CT April 9, 2009. ZRink - Killingworth Guppies Spring 2009 season.

04/09/2009- Newcomers to Guppies Nation may have been concerned knowing that the Guppies would be trying to get one game over the 500 mark without Captain Kelly in the line up.  Veteran power forward Dave Armenia was overheard at the morning skate saying, "no captain, no problem."  As the Guppies were warming up for the game, Marc Crayton and Rob Murphy came up with a brilliant strategy for the game, showing why they both have an "A" on their jerseys.  Their strategy, somebody has got to win this game and it might as well be us.

That strategy didn't look like it was going to come to fruition early, as the Guppies found themselves down 3 goals eleven and a half minutes into the 1st half.  It could have been worse had it not been for Joe Linskey coming up with some remarkable saves.  Linskey thought his night was going to be a little bit easier without Kelly in the line up making tape to tape passes to the opposing team, Joe was wrong.  Mike Halle, who swears by the 4 hour and 50 minute energy drink took it upon himself to get the Guppies fired up as he took a 10 minute misconduct after the House Brothers 3rd straight goal.  The Guppies would finally get on the board at the 8:18 mark, when Tim Poulin (3, 0) would take a pass from Pequita (0, 1) and Crayton (0, 1).  The Guppies weren't done, Keith Millen (2, 0) would get the first of his of two goal at the 4:25 mark, as the result of some fancy stick handling & passing that Guppies Nation has come to expect from Brain Mulcahy (0, 1).  Poulin from Murphy (0, 1) and Armenia (0, 1) would tie the score at 3s with 1:29 remaining in the first half.  Halle's move was brilliant, as the Guppies would score 3 straight goals while he was in the sin bin.

The Guppies did not feel comfortable going into the second half tied, so they let House Brothers score with 55 seconds remaining to go ahead 4 to 3 at half time.  The Guppies also did not feel comfortable being down only 1 goal, so in true Guppies fashion, they would allow House Brothers to take a two goal lead at the 15:06 mark of the second half.  At this point it appears that the Guppies remembered Crayton and Murphy's strategy.  The Guppies would get things going when Jason Zito (1, 1) blistered a wrist shot from the top of the face-off circle to make it a one goal game.  Poulin would pick up his third goal of the night minutes later on a pass from Mike Halle (0, 2) to tie the score at 5s.  The Guppies still weren't done scoring, Millen would add his second goal of the game on a delayed penalty on a pass from Linskey (0, 1) to give the Guppies a one goal lead.  Jon Stevenson would add more nail to House Brothers coffin on a goal from Halle and Zito to give the Guppies a two goal lead and what appeared to be the foundation for another Guppies victory. House Brothers would not go away easy though.  They were short-handed the last minute and a half and they managed to generate several excellent scoring opportunities, however, Linskey was up to the task as was Mike Halle who had several saves of his own to preserve the win.

The Guppies will be in action again this Thursday night with a scheduled start time of 9:00 p.m. against Jimmy Stickhandle.  Be sure to check the Guppies website for upcoming events in Guppies Nation.
