Deep Water! Guppies Lose to Pro Health 6-3!

Glastonbury, CT March 26, 2009. ZRink - Killingworth Guppies Spring 2009 season.

03/26/2009- Thursday night the Guppies looked to build off their victory over the Fire Ants a week earlier. The Guppies had never played Pro Health prior to Thursday night...or have they? Pro Health is formerly known as Blades of Steel, who is formerly known as Evil Sports. A team the Fish handled fairly easily during the Spring 2005 season and beat in the Finals that same year. Pro Health came out and got into penalty trouble early on, giving the Gupps Almost 4 minutes of power play time, including .16 seconds of a two man advantage. Despite several great scoring opportunities the Guppies were unable to beat Pro Health's netminder, Greg Marshall. The Fish finally got on the board when Brian Mulcahy (0-3-3) found Brian Kelly (1-0-1) in the high slot. Kelly fired a backhander over the sprawled Marshall for the 1-0 lead. The Guppies continued to play well, but, their best player early on was netminder Joe Linskey. Linskey made several great saves in the first half. The best....was off a break away that was caused when Kelly coughed up the puck in his own zone. Dave Armenia would be called for a penalty late in the half putting PH on the power play. Linskey finally yielded his first goal against late in that power play, allowing PH to tie the score at one. At the same time Dan Pequita (0-1-1) was called for a tripping penalty. At the end of One the teams were tied at one with Pro Health starting the Second on the Power Play.

It didn't take long for Pro Health to score on their Power Play, just .14 into the half they grabbed their first lead of the game. They would add another goal only .11 seconds later and yet another .30 seconds later. Within .99 seconds of playing time, going back to late in the first half, Pro Health scored FOUR unanswered Goals. In the first minute the Fish allowed one player, M. Viens, to score the Hat Trick!  The fish put themselves in a quick hole but tried to swim out. Marc Crayton (1-0-1) scored his first of the season, batting a rebound into the PH net. However, Pro Health responded moments later to regain the 3 goal lead. The Guppies continued to fight but to their credit PH kept our heroes at bay. Pro Health got into penalty trouble midway through the half and the Guppies found themselves on a long Power Play again. The Gupps worked the puck around but couldn't beat Marshall. Finally, Rob Murphy (1-0-1)took a pass from Mulcahy, and from the right circle fired the puck past the out stretched Marshall. Down by only two the Guppies offense went on the attack. Several shots hit the post but none of them hit the twine. PH would add the Empty net goal for the 6-3 victory.

The Guppies will have to pull it together quickly because next week doesn't get any easier as they face off  against Monster. The Guppies have a 3-0 record against Monster from back during the Summer 2005 season. However, Monster is an older team now and well, so are the Guppies! Game time is 9pm and Tickets are available.
