Official Game Summary

House Brothers Evict Guppies 9-3!

Glastonbury, CT June 25, 2009. ZRink - Killingworth Guppies Summer 2009 season.

06/25/2009- The Guppies were very shorthanded Thursday night as several team members were out of the lineup and others were late for the game. The Fish only had three players dressed by the end of warm ups and Dave Armenia stepped out on the dek only seconds before the drop of the puck to give the Gupps four skaters. House Brothers tested the shorthanded Guppies early on but net minder Andy Pettola was able to turn the chances aside. However, House Brothers would score soon enough and they did it in a pair of goals just .19 seconds apart. Down 2-0, Keith Millen (2-0-2) would finish a great  tic-tac-toe passing play from Tim Poulin (0-2-2) to cut the deficit in half. The Guppies had opportunities to tie the game at two, including a pair of Power Play chances but they couldn't find the net. A problem that would haunt them later in this game as well. HB added a late goal, as Pettola was beat high to the short side, to open the 3-1 lead at the half.

The Brothers scored again to open the Second Half and seemed to be dominating the Guppies! Dan Pequita (1-0-1) scored his second Goal of the season only seconds later to keep the Guppies swimming in the right direction. However, just like last week against the Avalanche,  The Guppies gave up FIVE straight unanswered goals!! Hard to win games with those popping up every week! Some have question whether it's the Guppies age or the off season workouts. Assistant Captain Marc Crayton had this to say "I'm the second oldest guy on the team and I have more wind then most guys on this team. You figure it out!"  Millen tipped a long slap shot by Poulin into the House Brothers net with .02 seconds remaining but that was the extent of the Guppies Second Half offense.

The Guppies face off against the Fire Ants next week, game time 9pm. The Guppies hope get back to .500 before the bye week but the Ants are always a tough opponent. Lets hope the Guppies raise their game. Tickets are still available

SIDE NOTES:

- Jason Zito and Brian Mulcahy were healthy scratches. Rob Murphy is still suffering from a lower body injury.

-  Better Late then Never: Jon Stevenson and Dan Pequita showed up late Thursday night and stepped onto the dek with eight minutes already played. Till that time the Guppies were playing with Pettola in net and 5 skaters. Everyone got their moneys worth of playing time.

- The Guppies were 4-0 all time vs House Brothers going into Thursday night's game. They're now 4-1!
