Craig Zito Announce His Retirement
05/26/2005 - Craig Zito announced his retirement Thursday Evening only hours before the Guppies faced off against Evil Sports. Craig sighted that fact that Killingworth offered a deal which was far less than what he and his agent requested. Zito signed a One year contract in the Spring 2004, he will remain with the team through the end of the playoffs. Craig, in his second season with the Guppies is enjoying a career year and leading the Guppies with 22 Goals and 35 Points through the Guppies first 10 Games. Those numbers top his already impressive Rookie season were he scored 11 Goals and had 18 Points. Before today members of the Guppies front office had looked at Zito as the future of the organization. He was considered one of the main reasons the team felt right about a move to Puck.
KG Sportnet Public Relations Manager Shasta McNasty defended the Guppies position "This is a small market, we can't afford Boston Money...... We wish Craig the all the best in his future endeavors"
Zito thanked the fans for their support and said that he "would remember all their support (they provided) over the past year". He continued that while he looks to his future in Boston he has one other goal before he leaves Killingworth "Killingworth will go undefeated this season and win their 7th Team Championship, I guarantee it! " Strong words from a strong force in the Guppies offense.
The Guppies look for their 7th Championship when the playoffs start on 6/6 vs The Blades. Game time in 7pm!
