October 11, 2005- Thursday night the Guppies faced their toughest challenge of the season as they faced off against the A league leading Team Midas. Each B League team has one game scheduled with a Puck A Team, luckily for the Gupps they drew Midas. The Guppies would gain the early lead as Marc Crayton (0-2-2) set up Jay Zito (2-0-2) in the low slot. Midas would tie the score at one when James Pezzulo fired a shot over Joe Linskey's shoulder "I never saw the shot" explained Linskey in a post game interview. The Guppies would regain the lead again on goals from Brian Mulcahy (1-4-5) and Keith Millen (2-0-2).  Up  3-1 early on the Guppies felt good about their chances to pull off the upset.  The feeling went away abruptly as Midas scored the next four goals to take the 5-3 lead late in the First Half. Zito would score his second of the night to pull the Guppies within one goal. At the Half, Midas was holding onto the one goal lead, up 5-4!.

In the Second it took less than a minute for the Guppies to lose the game as Midas scored twice in the opening minute! "That really hurt our chances to get back into the game" stated Marc Crayton "We had our top guys out there but we could generate any offense".  Midas would score two more goals to go up 9-4 and really pull away from the Guppies. Late in the Half, Brian Kelly (1-1-2) and Millen would score minutes apart to make it 9-6, but that was as close as the Gupps would get. With under a minute remaining Midas would score again to cement their victory.

Next Week the Guppies are back to B-League play as they face off against the Seawloves. Game time is 9pm, tickets are available.
